This year the American Institutes
for Research Connected Educators project convened a group of 13 practitioner teams
formed an online community of practice focused on Dropout Recovery and
Prevention. The community focuses on improving
outcomes for over-age, under-credited learners, with an emphasis on helping
schools play a central role in dropout recovery through partnering with other
community organizations.
On June 6, at 11 am Central/12 pm Eastern/9 am
Pacific, they are hosting a webinar entitled Partners in Dropout Recovery:
Getting Creative to Find and Recruit Students (Register here). This is the first in a series of
public dissemination and network engagement activities planned for the
community about different topics related to the communities’ foci. In this
hour-long webinar, three teams from the community will share their experiences
implementing creative and innovative ways to find and re-engage the toughest to
reach students who have dropped out of school. Presentations include:
•
Colorado Youth for a Change sharing
their innovative text message and interactive online video campaign
•

their creative strategies to scale outreach to potential students across a
large geographic area and working with the larger school community
•
